Note To Self: Don’t Miss Out On Books + Current reading list

You know what’s crazy?

I’ve made it this far on my journey without reading a single book.

Yes – I didn’t realize what I was missing out on until l the last month of 2018.

Here’s an earth-shattering revelation:

People have condensed years of experience and lessons into something you can read in a week!

So if you were hiding under a rock like me… It’s time to get your ass to a library and pick up something to read.

Make this a habit and you’ll be surprised just how fast it can change your life!

Why didn’t I start sooner?

Well, I suppose it was a combination of laziness, naivety, and simply not knowing what to pick up first.

But at least the ball is rolling now! *kicks*

In all honesty, if I could go back and say one thing to my 16 year old self, it would probably be:

“Emma, you don’t have to always do things the hard way by hands on experience and trial and error. Reading, participating in communities and even reaching out to others is an great way to broaden your horizons.”

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a time machine (yet)

So that’s why I’ve made it a personal goal to finish at least one book per month from here on out!

And I think that you should too.

Books I’ve finished so far in 2018:

  • The ONE thing
  • How to fail at everything and still win big

Actively reading right now:

  • The 4 hour work week
  • Spark: the revolutionary new science of exercise and the brain
  • Atomic Habits
  • Deep Work
  • The case against sugar

Still on the back-burner:

  • Slight Edge
  • The Talent Code
  • Profit First
  • The power of habit
  • How to win friends and influence people
  • Think and grow rich
  • Breaking the habit of being yourself
  • Thinking fast and slow
  • Miracle morning
  • Happiness advantage
  • Psycho-cybernetics
  • Pre-suasion
  • Influence: The psychology of persuasion

Considering buying:

  • Mini-habits
  • How to be an imperfectionist
  • The design of everyday things
  • Essentialism

Every book that I’ve read changed my mindset in some way and made me grow. “Rich dad poor dad” was the one that opened my eyes and showed me that there’s more than living unfulfilled life, catering to other’s expectations. After reading about 20 pages I felt like being an idiot my whole life and not seeing something so obvious. You can become rich with hard work and smart work, and still live a life where you enjoy waking up every morning. The only downside is that now I can’t fall asleep because I’m anxious to live another great day.

    Cheers 🍻

Excellent!! Thank you for sharing the list with us, I think that if a book can make only one thing change in your life, it can make a big difference. Reading “The power of habit” helped me understand that.

That’s actually one of the first non fiction books I read (but it was years ago so planned to re-read it). I highly suggest following that one up with Atomic Habits and The Slight Edge. They’re all very similar but ones on actually developing the habits, and the other goes deeper into the philosophy and makes it all more concrete in your head. 🙂

Hi Emma, that book list is awsome, It is actually pretty similar to mine. I’d add: “the subtle art of not giving a f*” Mar Manson.
    Cheers, Renzo
